On July 7, 2015, members of the Pet Food Experts team, government officials and members of the community celebrated the grand opening of the pet supply distributor’s brand new distribution center in Denver, Penn.
Following a welcome from Michael Baker, president and CEO of Pet Food Experts and Mark Hiester, East Cacolico Township manager, special remarks were made by members of the local government and construction team.
Glenn Frill of Professional Design & Construction, Inc. joined Cheryl Irwin-Bass, VP of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce, in welcoming the improved Pet Food Experts warehouse to Lancaster County.
A ribbon cutting ceremony took place with Michael Baker doing the honors alongside Pet Food Experts team members Jim Alden, CFO, Jim Bettencourt, COO, Kim Carter, office manager, Chase Carter, director of operations, Rich Brown, project manager, as well as Glenn Frill.
“Anytime we do an event like this, we consider it a win when companies choose to move their business here. Thank you for your dedication to the Lancaster County,” said Irwin-Bass.
The 200,000 square-foot warehouse space will service over 1,000 customers on the east coast from New York to Virginia. The building boasts over 26,000 pallet spots, an 8,800 square-foot freezer and a docking area to keep shipments efficient, clean and secure.
With over $1.25 million of product on the shelves, the warehouse is now the largest of the company’s four distribution centers – the other three are located in Rhode Island, Illinois and Washington.
“I represent the fourth generation of my family in the pet industry and what started as mostly a hobby for my great-grandfather in his basement based in Rumford, R.I. … and to think now we have a 200,000 square-foot custom-built facility here, it is really hard to grasp,” said Baker.
